Among Ed Panlilio: I do NOT have ‘an an’

A bidding war has reportedly escalated among the manufacturers of competing antifungal brands Nizoral Cream and Canesten Cream seeking the nod of Pampanga Gov. Eddie “Among Ed” Panlilio to be its endorser.

According to insiders, Nizoral and Bayer have each sent emissaries to the priest-turned-politician offering large sums of money in exchange for a contract with Panlilio to endorse their antifungal product.

The pharmaceutical companies apparently thought – mistakenly – that Panlilio has “panau,” a fungal disease characterized by white spots on the skin and locally known as “an an.”

The priest, who announced Tuesday that he has decided to run for president in 2010, actually has vitiligo, a condition that causes depigmentation of certain patches of skin.

“As a person with an extreme case of ‘an an,’ it must feel terrible to look in the mirror daily with itchy white spots all over your face. In this regard, we would like to offer you a year’s supply of our product, Nizoral Cream, on top of a generous financial compensation package, in exchange for an endorsement contract with our company,” Nizoral said in a letter to Panlilio.

Bayer, on the other hand, wrote: “An an is a very cumbersome but at the same time very, very, very, very, very, very treatable skin disease. Wouldn’t you wish to finally be rid of those unsightly white spots? Unilab would like to be given the opportunity to show you the effectiveness of our product. May we sit down for a talk about the prospect of an endorsement deal with us?”

In response, Panlilio issued a strongly-worded statement denying that he has “an an.”

“Gusto ko pong ipaalam sa lahat ng mga Pilipino na WALA po akong AN AN. Ito po ay ‘vitiligo,’ isang sakit sa balat na mayroon na ako simula pa sa kabataan. WALA rin po akong BUNI, ALIPUNGA at HADHAD. (I would like to inform all Filipinos that I do NOT have ‘an an.’ This is vitiligo, a skin disease I have had since childhood. I also do NOT have an an, buni, alipunga and hadhad.)”

He also asked the public, especially schoolchildren, to please refrain from referring to him as “An-aning Ed.”

well, serious mode muna.
i believe he can be a good president.
but i doubt if he can be an effective and efficient one.

wala siyang experience. basically, wala siyang alam.
yun din yung patama kay Obama last year (note:i am not an Obamer. haha.) but i see in him is his desire to serve the country. not just his desire but also his passion. his ‘father;y’ love for this country.imagine, leaving your treasured vocation para maging magulo ang buhay mo sa pulitika? that’s a hell of a sacrifice. and i think, it’s quite enough.

im not a supporter of among ed. matagal pa eleksyon. madami pang panahon para mamili. haha.

    hmmm, lars, i think karoger meant “good” in the moral sense.
    
    good as in “mabuti” not good as in “magaling.” not necessarily contradictory.

      well, from a polsci point of view, (where deejay is an expert ) i believe trasformational or charismatic (sorry, nakalimutan ko na. haha) leadership ang kayang ioffer ni among ed. like obama. engot naman kasi si obama eh. binoto lang siya ng mga tao dahil sa personality at charisma niya.
      
      again, im not rooting for among ed. im just presenting his ‘arguments’. haha.
