A combative Korina Sanchez reportedly wrote an open letter to Valenzuela councilor Shalani Soledad, the girlfriend of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, to clarify certain issues involving the two of them.

The open letter, now circulating on the Internet, is the second one Sanchez wrote since her fiancé Sen. Mar Roxas II renounced his presidential ambitions to give way to Aquino, who has expressed his intention to run for president under the Liberal Party. The two formally announced the Aquino-Roxas tandem at Club Filipino yesterday.
Previously, the ABS-CBN newscaster had written a strongly-worded letter to ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz reacting to some negative statements he had purportedly made against her on his Facebook page.
In her letter to Soledad, a copy of which was sent anonymously to Good Times Manila, Sanchez denied “nasty” reports that she was heartbroken over losing her prospects as the next First Lady.
She also accused Aquino’s girlfriend of ignoring an invitation to be her Facebook friend.
The open letter is reproduced in full below:
Well, well, well, you must be pretty pleased with yourself, Shahani Solidad [sic]. You are one step closer to becoming First Lady. Congratulations. Clap. Clap. Clap.
Contrary to what some nasty people have been saying about me (please refer to my other open letter to RG Cruz), allow me to make it very clear that I am NOT desperate to become First Lady. I do NOT care about that title at all. You are more than free to go for it. I will NOT stop you.
Besides, I did not become a multi-awarded broadcast journalist for nothing with so many awards to my name, including a Silver World Medal for Investigative Report at the New York Festivals, which also gave me and my show Rated K a finalist certificate as Best News Reporter and Best News Magazine, respectively. Imagine that. An award from New York. It’s nothing really, just part of my job.
I am sure that as an aspiring First Lady, you have some achievements of your own as a barangay kagawad – oh, I’m sorry – I mean, as a “councilor” in that swampy place Navotas [should be Valenzuela -Ed.]. I am sure you are very proud of yourself.
And do I even need to mention that I am a household name to millions of Filipinos around the world, the soon-to-be-wife of a respected senator, and a bosom buddy of your boyfriend’s sister, Kris Aquino? What is “First Lady” to me but just another title?
By contrast, since you are now enjoying your newfound fame as the girlfriend of my former boyfriend, Sen. Noynoy Aquino, I am sure some people will probably recognize you now as you walk the corridors of the Navotas Municipal Hall or wherever you do your work as a barangay tanod.
I wrote to you to make these clarifications. Believe me, I am happy for you, Shulina Soledum [sic], or as I like to call you, future First Lady-wannabe.
But I have another reason for writing you, future First Lady-wannabe. On the seventh of September 2009, at exactly 1:12 in the morning, I logged on to my Facebook and chanced upon your account since it so happened that you and my fiancé are Facebook friends, so I took it upon myself – as a matter of simple courtesy and nothing else – to invite you, Sheluni Soleded [sic] to be my Facebook friend.
Well, it has been more than 20 DAYS since I made a point of inviting you, but still there has been no response, and it is hard to believe but all points lead to one conclusion, that you, Shanuni Suledad [sic], in fact, “ignored” my invitation. And please do not insult my intelligence by saying you have not been logging on to Facebook, for I have seen, using my fiancé’s account that on the 12th of September 2009 at exactly 1:12 a.m., you “found a lonely brown cow on Farmville.” Furthermore, on the 15th September 2009 at 9:43 p.m. you updated your status and said you were “buying Noynoy some hair gel for Christmas.”
What say you, future First Lady-wannabe? It does not matter to me, since you are as important to me as a gnat is important to a carabao. But do you not understand the importance of common courtesy as a prospective First Lady of the land?
So to you, Sheluna Sulingad [sic], I say, I hope that – as one of your Facebook entries narrated – as you were “eating sans rival” while events at Club Filipino on the 2nd of September 2009 were unfolding and all you could think of and delight in, as written in your Facebook, are your “shot at becoming First Lady,” you will, henceforth, take interest in proper decorum and the qualities that a real genuine First Lady must possess.
I pray that your failure as a First Lady shall not lead you down to a tragic path, disappearing into oblivion, and leaving not even a trace of dust to settle in your wake, in the same way no hair could ever settle on Noynoy’s shiny skull.

I have a chance of meeting Shalani Soledad during the wake of my niece in Valenzuela. Alam mo pagpasok niya sa compound namin she was beaming w/ beauty and simplicity. Sobra puti at kinis, I wonder maybe one of this days magi-indorse na rin siya ng Belo’s beauty products. Since panay hinagpis yung mga kamag-anak ko ako na lang nag-estima sa kanya at kwentuhan kami to the max siguro 2 to 3 hours. Maganda siya na hindi mo pagnanasaan sa sobrang simple niya parang tinatamad na ata akong kausap siya at that time. And that was 2 months ago lang ha, wala naman sa hinagap ko na bigla siyang sisikat ng ganito, sana nakipagkaibigan pa ako ng husto, yun bang close na syempre kapag naging first lady may mangyari rin maganda sa career ko. now, korina’s “open letter,” whether authentic or not, is just the right way to make RG quake in his knees. even now he must be scared out of his wits.

i agree, it’s pretty much careless to say that in some social networking site, much more if that’s the current drug of this farmville-cocooned generation. in cyberspace, whatever you say is open to public scrutiny.
but that is not synonymous to being stupid. it’s his opinion and just as any other person in this country, you have the right to say what you want to say, regardless if it’s something directed to the higher echelons of the TV station you’re working for.
what i don’t like is using her power to terminate the reporter just because the attack was directed to her (if it’s, indeed, true that the white paper circulating is written by korina herself).
i’ve always liked korina’s stellar broadcasting career but having read the white paper, especially the last paragraph, i don’t think that shows professionalism for such a well-respected broadcaster like her.
He knowingly put those libellous statements in Fb when he knows very well that the possibility of them being found out is very, very, very likely. And besides, Korina is a much hated persona in their workplace for a reason. He must have known how much of a bitch she is. And despite knowing all that, he still did what he did. And if he did not do that deliberately to achieve a certain goal (maybe he really wanted to get fired or stir up a controversy or some other thing) but just because he had an unbearable urge to badmouth a figure as prominent and influential as Korina, I feel pretty safe calling him stupid.
Re: the firing thing, its unfair, I get that, but the world is unfair and people get fired for doing stupid things. We just have to deal. Or build our own TV network.
calling the reporter’s statement as “libelous” is too strong an adjective. art borjal and max soliven were never proven guilty for libel even if the former accused cory aquino of cowering under her bed pointblank. and that’s even in a national broadsheet. which, is even more blatant and harsh.
heck, for all the supposed malicious intent, he didn’t even mentioned korina’s name. be that as it may, his action is not tantamount to stupidity. like i said, it’s his right to say what he wants to say. i’m sure he knows the repercussions of what he did but to call him stupid just “because he had an unbearable urge to badmouth a figure as prominent and influential as korina” is clearly an insult to the person’s intelligence.

Korina Sanchez is devastated because her dream of being the First Lady of the Philippines shattered. As it is, it might be Noynoy’s Girlfriend. Korina was crying because she worked hard to get that title. She gave up a lot. Everything that she has done, that she worked for went to drain. She was even quoted as saying this:

If she only stopped barking on people and take time to examine herself, look in the mirror and look deep inside her and accept the reality that she can’t have everything. She will come at peace to herself and everyone. After all, she will be the wife of the future Vice President. I will keep my fingers’ cross. God Bless!

I do not think that Korina Sanchez wrote this. she may be a lot of things, but she is not stupid. This letter is very detrimental to the Aquino-Roxas campaign and this may be the work of the camps of Villar, Erap, Gibo to stir controversy. just my two cents.
Don’t you know the meanings of satire and joke blog? Read the descriptions on the top right end side first before you try to go political on us.
